From Limburg with love

What should a Southern-Limburgian girl-team do after 4 hours of kedeng-kedeng on the railway, 10 games of cards and 2 beers in the CVT home café (De Pimpelaer)?
Of course: getting to know the neighbours. Is there any coincidence in the world? Does the blood go where it can't go? BELGIANS. Nice sleeping-bags, gorgeous bodies and such a nice way of talking Dutch.
The perfect preparation to a heavy tournament. It even gets better when we know we are being guarded by a large group of security-people during day- and night time. We almost cry out from happiness when the 'krentebollen' at the Penta breakfast are fresh and we are
being driven around and given a sightseeing by one of the taxi's.
We arrive at the 'Marsdijkhal'. The teams from Portugal, Greece and the rest of Holland do have a problem, with such a motivated bunch of girls from Sittard. How big this will be will have to show off during the next hours.
One thing is clear, this CVT is already a success!!
Thanks to the organisation, Gonda, the guys from security and the Penta Catering team. CVT is GREAT, going for hundred!

Every year around Christmas and New year we have to show up to teach the other European volleyball teams some lessons in volleyball. Instead, because of the heavy nightlife in Assen often WE are getting lessons. A great tournament, organized better every year.
Also the foreign impact is getting bigger every year, although their ability to speak English (or Dutch) could be worked on. The possibility of speaking with hands and legs is a nice way of communicating.
It is a tournament of high quality and high level of playing. Because of this it is great to be a member and even greater to watch the games. The halls are filled with many spectators, motivating the players.
The cantinas are feeding the hungry people which sometimes are getting off their anger and waiting times on the ash-trays and chairs.
In the evening drinking Corona's and eating Nacho's and Pizza's in the Penta. After a night of snorin people, checking security and incoming drunken men we wake up.
With an enormous headache you get up, open your eyes and look into the face of your neighbour who looks like his hair-dryer exploded. Not until you got a shower you recognize this person as being your team member. The following day the level of playing decreases quickly (how come?).
Impression of an umpire
"Thursday, second tournament day, CVT is alive. The teams run, jump or crawl into 'De Spreng'. People are sleeping alongside the playing fields. In this exhaustion just from one day volleybal or did I just miss something?
The preparations of an umpire start around February: Getting the days off at work around Christmas.
This year I'll stay in Assen. This means, after a long first day, stopping by at the cafe to get undercover with the participants of this tournament. I don't see any reasons to worry, Cios, RUG, Hanzehogeschool and many others are having lots of fun with Fanta and orange juice. After another hour I found out that I can go to sleep peacefully.
Everyone is trying the best and is having a great time. No incidents, besides one team who did not learn the word 'responsibility'. They got an official warning from the organization. Meanwhile, the Hanzehogeschool is trying to gather more points by performing a striptease act. Unfortunately the umpire does nog give to these kinds of attempts (during daytime? - red.) Instead, the team gets a warning during the game, because of remarks on the umpires.
Hogeschool Enschede is afraid of forbidding everything. We don't forbid anything. It is fun, cozy and sport like. From the side of the umpires no complaints. In De Spreng everything is all right. A compliment would deserve any of you. I hope our work as volunteers also is appreciated by you!
